Modern mythology for the moments when we are becoming someone new.
I create symbolic paintings about self-trust, transformation, desire, grief, boundaries, and the mysterious inner knowing that leads us through change.
My work lives at the intersection of pop surrealism, modern mysticism, and personal mythology. Through recognizable objects, archetypal figures, saturated color, and a little strangeness, I turn internal experiences into images we can see, name, and carry with us.
My paintings are not meant to tell you what your life means. They are invitations to recognize the meaning already unfolding within it.
A deck, a body of work,
and a world
The Soul Spark Oracle is being created as both a functional oracle deck and a cohesive body of original art.
Each image is painted by hand in acrylic on an 11 × 14-inch canvas before being photographed and transformed into a card. The completed deck will contain four interconnected realms: Ignite, Feel, Ground, and Remember guiding the reader through desire, emotional truth, embodiment, and inner wisdom.
Unlike systems that claim to predict a fixed future, the Soul Spark Oracle is rooted in sovereignty. It does not ask you to surrender your authority to the cards. It helps you return to yourself.
The Soul Spark Oracle
I am currently creating the Soul Spark Oracle, a collection of 44 original acrylic paintings exploring what it means to trust yourself through uncertainty, transformation, and reinvention.
Each painting begins with a piece of wisdom I have encountered through my own life, my work with clients, or the symbols and stories that have followed humanity for generations. These ideas become a new kind of myth: one made for the choices, thresholds, heartbreaks, desires, and awakenings of modern life.
The imagery moves between the sacred and the ordinary: a severed red thread, a glowing lantern, a green-eyed monster, an open doorway, a computer hidden inside a woman’s mind. Some paintings draw from mythology, tarot, psychology, folklore, art history, and spiritual traditions. Others begin with an everyday object that suddenly reveals itself as a symbol.
Together, the paintings form a visual language for remembering:
Your anger has something to tell you.
Your desire can point the way.
Grief is evidence that something mattered.
There are no wrong doors.
You are allowed to release what no longer belongs to you.
You are still the oracle.
About the Artist
Dani DeWine is a Columbus, Ohio–based artist, writer, and modern myth maker. Her work explores self-trust, identity, emotional transformation, and the symbolic language people use to understand their lives.
After being offered a full scholarship to attend art school at eighteen, she chose a different path and spent years building businesses, working with clients, and studying the ways people navigate change. She eventually returned to painting with a deeper understanding of the stories she wanted to tell.
Her current body of work, the Soul Spark Oracle, brings together her experience as an intuitive practitioner with her lifelong love of art, mythology, psychology, and symbolism. Her work has previously been recognized in a juried exhibition at the Springfield Museum of Art in Ohio.
Dani’s central creative question is simple:
What if the stories we need are already trying to emerge through us?
Artist statement
I believe humans have always used stories and symbols to survive the parts of life that cannot be solved through logic alone.
My work asks: What are the stories our generation still needs?
I am especially interested in the internal thresholds that often go unseen: the moment a person decides to trust herself, the grief hidden inside transformation, the desire that refuses to disappear, or the realization that an old identity can no longer contain who she is becoming.
Influenced by mythology, tarot, Jungian psychology, surrealism, and the visual language of cinema, I create paintings that feel familiar without being completely explainable. I am drawn to the balance artists like David Lynch embodied so beautifully: the willingness to explore shadow without surrendering wonder.
I do not want to give the viewer a single prescribed interpretation. I want each painting to behave like a mirror, revealing something slightly different depending on who is standing before it.
